The Downtown Start

Johnson's Bakery sits on South Jefferson Street, a few blocks from the courthouse square. It is the highest-rated breakfast stop in town, and the line at the counter moves the way Perry likes it—steady, no fuss. You will not find a menu pinned up with descriptions; you will find what is in the case. That is enough.

The Highway Stretch

Most of Perry's eating happens along South Byron Butler Parkway, where the chains line up like fence posts. Huddle House is the reliable all-day option, open when the timber trucks start rolling and still going when they stop. Hardee's does the drive-through biscuit business, and McDonald's handles the coffee-and-egg rush. None of these will surprise you, and that is the point.

Casa Grande Mexican Restaurant Co opens later than the breakfast spots, but if you are after something with more heat before noon, it is the only sit-down place on the parkway doing it. Old Mexico is further south on the same road, same idea, slightly different crowd.

Graves Drive-In is out on US-221, past the edge of town. It has been there long enough that nobody bothers to explain it. The parking lot fills with pickup trucks on weekend mornings, and the service is straight to the window. This is not a place for a menu; it is a place for a routine.

3 Nelsons Sandwich & Ice Cream Shop on North Jefferson Street is the other end of the spectrum—clean, bright, and busy with families. It does breakfast sandwiches and ice cream, which sounds odd until you remember that in a town this size, one place often has to do two jobs.

The Buffet Question

Perry has three buffets, and two of them serve breakfast. Fusion Buffet and C J Supreme Buffet both sit on South Jefferson Street, and both do the all-you-can-eat thing. The quality is what you would expect from a buffet in a town of 6,965 people—nothing fancy, but hot and plentiful. Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant is down the same road, but it does not do breakfast, so do not go looking for it in the morning.

The Chain Reality

The rest of the parkway is a list of names you already know. Taco Bell, Burger King, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and Sonic Drive-In are all there, and they all serve breakfast in their own corporate way. Mama's Italian Family Restaurant is the outlier—Italian food, open for lunch and dinner, not breakfast. Do not confuse it with a morning spot.
